6 Things I’m Loving Right Now
Oh hi everyone!
Taking a break from banging the longevity drum for a minute with six things I’m loving right now:
1. Shopping for winter clothes NOW on The RealReal
If you have foresight, patience, and a very specific list, this is a smart way to shop for next year.
I don’t browse and buy randomly. I search for specifics.
Classic coat. Cashmere scarves. Barely worn wool sweaters.
Buy at the end of the season.
Wear it next November.
Delayed gratification is underrated. (I do this for summer, too!)
2. East of Eden by John Steinbeck
If you haven’t read this, I’ll just say: it’s one of the most readable classics you’ll ever pick up. Highly recommend.
For something more “candy” that you won’t be able to put down: Night Road by Kristin Hannah.
Not high art, but deeply absorbing. Also great on audio because the story is so easy to follow.
(In conclusion: you can do both — Steinbeck and melodrama.)
3. Do you know who Jay Shetty is?
He’s a wellness influencer, podcaster, self-help personality — one of those modern combinations that didn’t really exist 10–15 years ago.
He’s also a former monk, officiated the Bennifer wedding, and has extremely blue eyes.
The Guardian ran a deep dive into his self-help empire and the broader world of modern guru culture. (It’s from 2024, but I just discovered it.)
Worth a read if you're interested in who’s legit, who’s not.
Also: I think most of us already have many of the answers we need inside, but we often want someone else to tell us what we need to hear instead of listening to our own inner compass. This piece will make you consider.
4. Core on Fire — A 5 Day Challenge
I’m making this free for you.
If you’ve been meaning to reset your core connection, try this.
It's 10 minutes a day for 5 days.
A more integrative approach to your entire core — not just your abs.
Add it to your regular workout, tack it onto a walk, or do it on its own.
You're welcome.
5. Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model (Netflix)
Equal parts nostalgia and anthropological study of a particular (pre-influencer) moment in time.
Exploitation meets excess meets ambition meets Tyra trying (in her own way) to push for more inclusion in the modeling world… plus Miss Jay.
Gawd. So good.
You will have an opinion.
6. This quote
“The degree to which a person can grow is directly proportional to the amount of truth he can accept about himself without running away.”
— Leland Val Van De Wall
That's all for this week!
XO,
